Borderline Books –Office Manager
The Kittiwake Trust charity is seeking a part-time office worker to support the work of Borderline Books,. They will work closely with Amina Marix Evans, Project Development Manager
Location: Team Valley, Gateshead
Hours : 15 hours a week, probably worked over three days (flexible) £10 per hour. Holidays by arrangement. One year contract, this may be extended, subject to funding.
Main responsibilities
Outreach – contacting local organisations in need of books
Office work relating to Borderline Books, particularly including supporting Project Manager
Coordinating volunteers for Borderline Books, including overseeing regular volunteers who stamp, sort and shelve books
Advising visitors and making sure they keep a tally of books taken
Follow-up for groups who visit regularly
Keeping a diary of visits & events
Making sure we meet targets set by funders
Coordinating lost property collections
Overseeing kitchen and office supplies – checking what needs buying etc
Overseeing cleaning rotas for volunteers and doing occasional cleaning tasks
Taking note of any repairs needed
Essential skills and experience
Using computers to write documents (Word), managing emails and databases (Excel)
Being comfortable using the phone,
Ability to carry out a variety of office and administrative tasks efficiently
Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
Being able to take instruction from Project Manager
To work according to Kittiwake Trust’s environmental, equality and diversity policies.
To ensure that the offices are always presentable, clean and tidy and that there are no health-hazards or obstacles that could be in the way of wheelchair-users or less-abled visitors
Desirable skills and experience
Co-ordinating volunteers, Library/bookshop work, outreach work with community organisations
